First up was Christchurch on February 25th and a steady stream of visitors and exhibitors enjoyed and learnt from our demonstrators throughout the day. First up, Dennis Hughes demonstrated seed propagation with particular reference to azaleas and rhododendrons. He was followed by Jeff Elliott who spoke on propagation by cuttings and tissue culture. Eddie Welsh then spoke on propagation by division including bulbs, corms and tubers. Ian Williams concluded the demonstrations by showing a variety of techniques for budding and grafting.
From the interest shown, it can only be concluded that the demonstrations were an outstanding success with several people joining up on the day and many others taking away information and newsletters. Many thanks to our demonstrators for giving their time to promoting the society and those executive members who helped out on the stand.
